The Retirement Connection

Our interest in employees doesn't end upon retirement. In January 2004, "The Retirement Connection" was launched. Within a few weeks after an employee retires from George Mason, each will receive a retirement package containing an array of items generously donated by various University departments. It includes complimentary tickets to a performance at the Center for the Arts, a George Mason basketball game of choice, and an annual parking decal.

In addition, retirees are encouraged to obtain the Retiree ID card which affords the holder the same privileges enjoyed with the current GMU ID and which has no expiration date. This retirement package is a wonderful way to say thank you to those who have provided service to the University.

We also encourage our Mason retirees to stay in touch through the Retirement Connection webpage where retirees can find handy information on Mason as well as resources and opportunities to stay connected.

Relocation Packets

Relocation packets are designed to help recruit prospective candidates to Mason and Northern Virginia. The packets consist of material about Northern Virginia, Mason, the local real estate market, area school systems, restaurants etc. Additional material on children's activities, eldercare resources, or other special needs can be included.

Please contact the Rewards and Recognition Coordinator at 703-993-2739 to request a packet.

Information on moving companies that can be used for relocation (under certain employment contracts) is available. Questions should be directed to the Purchasing Department at 3-2580.

University Day

The University Service Award recognizes employees who have served George Mason University and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 or more years of service.
