Coverage may continue 6 months; the employer pays no contribution and the employee pays the entire cost.

The employer makes no ORP or VRS contribution;

no VRS service credit is earned and service credit cannot be purchased upon return.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

 

 

Illness

 

 

12 months

Coverage may continue 12 months; the employer pays its contribution with medical certification of disability and only if the employee pays the employee premium. Without certification, the leave is treated as personal leave.

The employer makes no ORP or VRS contribution;

no VRS service credit is earned; service credit can be purchased upon return.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

 

 

Educational

 

24 months

Coverage may continue 24 months; the employer pays no contribution and the employee pays the entire cost.

The employer makes no ORP or VRS contribution;

no VRS service credit is earned; service credit can be purchased upon return.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

 

 

Military

 

24 months

 

COBRA coverage is available. Employees pay the active employee rate only.

If less than .5 FTE, neither the employer nor employee make a retirement contribution;

For VRS: no VRS service credit is earned; service credit can be purchased upon return.

Faculty Study Leave

Awarded Upon Committee Recommendation

 

1 academic year (*1 semester full pay or 2 semesters half pay)

Coverage will continue for the duration of the leave; the employer pays its contribution and the employee pays the employee premium.
The employer makes an ORP or VRS contribution based on full salary.
Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.
 
Coverage continues; the employer makes full contribution.

 

Military Leave

 

24 months

Coverage may continue 24 months; the employer pays its contribution if the employee pays the employee premium.

If .5 FTE or more, both the employer and employee make an ORP or VRS contribution (based on reduced earnings).

If less than .5 FTE, neither the employer nor employee make a retirement contribution;
