Holidays
There are 12 days observed by the State as paid holidays. At George Mason University, the following days are observed on the days designated by the State:
- New Year's Day (January 1)
- Martin Luther King Day (the third Monday in January)
- Memorial Day (the last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (the first Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving Day (the fourth Thursday in November)
- The day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day (December 25)
The remaining holidays are included in the winter holiday break, normally between Christmas and New Year's.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the preceding
Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the
following Monday.
