Job Classification
Job titles and pay bands for classified positions are assigned according to the classification system of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Each position is assigned a role according to the duties and responsibilities of the position. If your duties and responsibilities change significantly over time or due to the restructuring of your job by your supervisor, a different role may be assigned. Details about the classification review process are available from your HR Consultant.
The purpose and functions of your job are outlined in a EWP, which is the basis for job classification and the development of a performance plan. Each year, during the performance planning process, it is a good idea to review your EWP to make sure it accurately describes your work duties and responsibilities.
