Smoking in the Workplace

In response to the Surgeon General's repeated warnings on the dangers of tobacco smoking, enactment of the Virginia Indoor Clean Air Act and the need to provide a healthy environment for students, faculty and staff, the University is a "smoke-free" environment. Details of this policy are in Administrative Policy 40, "Policy for a Smoke-Free Environment." Smoking breaks are regulated by existing state policies on daily work breaks.
