Environmental Health and Safety Training

The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) provides a number of required and optional safety training sessions that cover topics related to Laboratory Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, and Fire Safety. Please discuss which sessions are required for your work with your supervisor or contact EHS for further information (safety@gmu.edu; 703.993.8448). Van Driver Familiarization Classes

The GMU Police offers van driver familiarization classes for anyone in the Mason community who will be operating a motorpool or vanpool vehicle. To register, please print the application questionnaire from their site and submit at least 48 hours in advance of the training.

Counseling and Psychological Services Counseling and Psychological Services

As most faculty have observed first hand, many students face increasing economic, academic and social pressures. To support faculty and staff in responding and to increase the opportunities for students to access assistance, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers two training programs: Mason Cares, a two-hour gatekeeping program, and At-Risk, an online interactive course.

Office of Equity and Diversity Services

Through educational workshops the OEDS ensures that members of the campus community understand their rights and responsibilities, specifically in regard to maintaining a learning and working environment free from illegal discrimination. OEDS creates, designs, and disseminates programs that bring diverse people together in an encouraging and welcoming environment.

Conflict Resolution and Diversity Workshops

The Multicultural Resource Center offers Diversity and Conflict Resolution workshops free to all GMU faculty and staff.

English Language Institute (ELI)

ELI classes are available to staff at no cost on a space available basis. When accessing their web site, click onto "Support Services" to get more information about their offerings.

Fiscal Services eVA Training

Fiscal Services is offering a class on purchasing using the new eVA system. Individuals who currently use Limited Purchase Orders (LPOs) and/or American Express cards to purchase goods and services will learn how to process those transactions, as required by the State, through the eVA system.

Information Technology (IT) Training at Mason

The training organizations within Information Technology provide technical workshop/training opportunities to Mason faculty, staff, and students. These organizations include DoIT's IRC, TOPS; LRO, University Libraries, and DoIT's STAR.
