🗓️  Friday, February 6, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

🗓️  Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

📍  Virtual (Zoom)

With the annual performance evaluation cycle launching in February and the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey coming in April, now is an ideal time to explore the powerful impact of appreciation in the workplace, both at an individual employee and unit level.

Grounded in the book The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace, the Workplace Appreciation training is designed for all George Mason faculty and staff, including both supervisors and individual contributors, who want to better understand how meaningful appreciation boosts engagement, satisfaction, and team culture.

Participants will:

  • Learn about the five languages of workplace appreciation
  • Reflect on their personal preferences for receiving appreciation
  • Identify practical strategies for expressing genuine appreciation to George Mason colleagues
  • Discuss ways to integrate appreciation into daily interactions, performance evaluations, and team practices

This session offers a chance to deepen self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and create more positive, supportive work environments across the George Mason community.

Additionally, business units can request the Workplace Appreciation workshop to be tailored to their unit goals and delivered at team meetings, retreats, etc. Reach out to engagehr@gmu.edu with questions or to schedule a customized Workplace Appreciation workshop.
