MicroStrategy HR Reports: Chosen Name Updates
In compliance with University Policy 1143-Chosen Name and Pronouns Policy, MicroStrategy HR Reports are being updated to reflect an employee’s Chosen Name rather than Legal Name. The implementation of this policy can be tracked on the Registrar’s Chosen Name Display and Uses page. We expect that all standard HR reports will be updated by the end of the summer.
How does the updated Employee Name attribute work?
The Employee Name attributes now looks at both places in our personnel system where Legal and Chosen Names are stored. If an employee has entered a Chosen Name, then reports will default to displaying the Chosen Name. If the Chosen Name field is blank, the report will return an employee’s Legal name in the report output.
What do I do if I still need the Legal Name for a certain report?
All first name attribute forms (legal and chosen) are still available in MicroStrategy, however in accordance with Mason’s policy, HR reports will default to displaying Chosen Name. If you require an employee’s Legal Name, there are two options to alter the report output. One, you can update how the Employee Name attribute is displayed by updating the attribute form; please reference these ITS MicroStrategy Knowledge Base Articles for directions. Two, users can also choose the individual attributes for Employee Legal and Chosen Name, particularly if having both on a report would be helpful.
Who can I contact with questions?
For assistance, please contact the BIS team using a BIS Ticket Request
It is important to note that users who have copied down HR reports to their department or My Reports folders will have to update those themselves. Only standard reports found in the Shared Reports folder will reflect these and other report enhancements.
