Mason's Fulltime Remote Out-of-State/International Telework Request Form Updates

Mason faculty and staff provided feedback that led to process improvements in Mason’s Fulltime Remote Out-of-State/International Telework Request form. The changes include the following:

  • The individual employee will now initiate the form, fill out employee information, and submit it. Previously, the supervisor had to complete the first steps.
  • The HR Liaison now plays a significant role in completing the form. Once initiated by the employee, the form will be routed to the HR Liaison to complete the “Employment Information” section. This section will require the HR Liaison to include the following information:
    • Employee classification
    • Employee start date/date of hire
    • Salary (annual and base rate) and additional compensation
    • Confirmation of travel
    • Executive level, Unit, Department, and Org

Following these two steps, both the national and international forms will continue to supervisory approval. The workflow will then continue to various offices, including payroll, depending on the type of request.

Please note, current forms on file will remain valid until the end date listed on the form. The new version of the form should be used by employees submitting new requests and employees who are due to renew existing agreements. As a reminder, the Remote Out-of-State/International Telework Request Form should be submitted annually, even if employees have not moved.

As a reminder, Classified Staff working outside of the Commonwealth of Virginia must have both the Mason’s Fulltime Remote Out-of-State/International Telework Request Form and Standard Telework Request & Renewal Form on file.
