Before Your First Day - Some things you need to know or can do to help your first day run smoothly.

  1. Do you know where the NEW Center is located? If not, click on this link for driving directions.
  2. Before visiting the NEW Center, complete your MasonOnBoard hiring documents, which include the following:
    1. Your Section 1 of the Federal I-9 form (You will need to bring your ORIGINAL documents with you to the NEW Center/Human Resources & Payroll within 3 days of your FIRST day of work for pay). A list of acceptable documents can be found at USCIS acceptable I-9 documents.
  3. Various State Policies
  4. Benefits Overview
  5. Your Direct Deposit information (You will need your bank routing and account numbers)
  6. Would you like to park your vehicle at the Fairfax, Prince William, or Arlington campus? We can arrange an automatic parking payroll deduction and give you a temporary parking permit, if you bring your vehicle registration (issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles) with you to the NEW Center.
  7. Bring a smile since we will be taking your photo for your Mason photo identification card.


Classified orientations are held every other Tuesday in Merten Hall, room 2001 from 9am to 4pm with a break for lunch. Your orientation date is assigned based on your start date and is included in your official welcome letter.

Classified orientation covers topics such as Mason culture, policies and procedures, time sheets, and benefits. Prior to orientation, please complete your StrengthsFinder assessment, located at, and please bring your top 5 strengths to orientation.

International Employees

If you are a Foreign National who does not have U.S. Lawful permanent residence (green card), please follow the steps below before you begin work at Mason:
