Pats for Patriots: Summer 2026

What if one small note of appreciation could brighten someone’s day, strengthen a team, and remind a colleague that their efforts truly matter? At George Mason, kindness has a ripple effect. The Pats for Patriots program is one simple but powerful way to recognize the people whose support, generosity, and everyday actions make our community stronger.

Taking a moment to acknowledge someone’s kindness does more than say “thank you.” It helps build connection, fosters a culture of belonging, and reminds colleagues that the work they do behind the scenes and the care they show others never go unnoticed. A few thoughtful words can leave a lasting impact.

This summer, George Mason employees have shared many inspiring Pats that reflect the ways kindness makes a difference across our community. Below is a sample of the actions that have made a real difference:

Anthony Cole, Human Resources

“I wanted to share how grateful I am for you! You have been incredible to work with and truly a lifesaver during the summer upload, making sure all of our faculty and adjuncts were taken care of.”

- Mistey Surida, College of Public Health

Felicita Minionis, College of Education and Human Development

“Felicita does so many things to keep our program moving, growing, and thriving. Thanks for creating the swag bags for graduation. This really makes our students feel valued, and it helps us get the George Mason name out there.  We really appreciate you!”

Jeffrey Porovich, Costello College of Business

“Jeffrey continues to be an invaluable member of our team and college. He offers solutions to challenges, thinks out of the box, is creative, and most of all, kind and patient. He makes every work day better.”
