Brent E. Ericson, PhD


Dr. Brent Ericson is currently the Assistant Dean of Students at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where he supervises several student affairs units in the University Life Division. In addition, Brent serves on the University’s Threat Assessment and Title IX assessment teams, and has responsibilities in risk management, student safety, policy development, and learning outcomes assessment, among others.

Coaching Approach and Style


 

Brent recently began a period of professional and self-exploration to identify the areas of practice where he both enjoys and excels.  Focusing in on his desire to serve others, Brent is discovering ways to apply his passion for empowerment, self-advocacy, resiliency, and adult learning and development.

Relevant Experience


 

He has made numerous presentations within the higher education community on topics such as student conduct, Title IX, litigation, resilient leadership, student learning and psychological development, assessment, and strategic planning. He has also advised lawmakers on legislative issues at both the state and federal level. He is an accomplished speaker and trainer, professional development facilitator, published author, and is currently working toward certifications in professional coaching. 

Education


 

Brent holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Augustana College (IL), as well as a Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree in Education from Indiana University (IN) and Boston College, respectively.

Credentials


 

Brent became a Certified Master Coach from the Center for Coaching Certification (IFC approved) in October of 2020, and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. A certified Virginia mediator, Brent has experience working in a variety of conflict resolution practices including conflict coaching, group facilitation, and restorative justice.
