Faculty and Staff Experience Survey FAQs - Survey Launches April 3!

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions related to the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey launch. As a reminder, the survey will launch this Wednesday, April 3. All employees will receive a survey invitation email from Gallup. 


Who is being surveyed? 

All of Mason's employees are invited to participate in the survey. This includes I/R faculty, adjunct faculty, classified staff, A/P faculty, wage employees, and student and graduate student employees. 

In partnership with Faculty Senate, the Faculty Evaluation of Administrators (FEA) will be launched with the FSE survey. After completing the FSE questions, I/R faculty will advance to the FEA portion of the assessment. 


When is the survey? 

The Faculty and Staff Experience Survey will be open from Wednesday, April 3 to Wednesday, April 23 

Every employee will receive an email invitation from Gallup with a unique link to the survey. Be on the lookout for this email invitation and reminders! 


How long will the survey take to complete? 

Completing the survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes. 


Are my answers confidential? 

Yes. 

  • Gallup adheres to strict confidentiality rules for survey responses. 
  • All data collected is stored by Gallup and is kept strictly confidential. 
  • Individual responses remain confidential and will NOT be shared with Mason or its leadership. 
  • All responses are aggregated into larger working groups/divisions consisting of no fewer than five employees to ensure responses cannot be traced back to the individual. 
  • Gallup creates and issues unique survey links to each employee; Mason will not have access to these links. 
  • The email invitation from Gallup will NOT ask for any personal information (date of birth, social security number, etc.)

How will the results of the survey be used? 

Action Planning will take place throughout multiple levels of the Mason community. HR's Faculty and Staff Engagement team and Organizational Development and Learning team will work with leaders and employees to review results and develop unit-level strategies and action steps to implement meaningful change. When will we see the results of the survey? 

High-level results of the survey will be shared with Mason's senior leaders and HR leaders in the summer of 2024. Results will be shared with the wider Mason community at a Town Hall meeting, hosted by President Washington and Mary Lucal, VP of Human Resources, on Wednesday, September 18 at 3 p.m. in the HUB Ballroom.
