Recognition and Appreciation Toolkit
As part of our comprehensive recognition program, a refreshed Recognition and Appreciation Toolkit is available to all Mason employees. The revamped toolkit includes:
- Tips for celebrating an employee using their workplace appreciation language;
- Virtual appreciation tools, including Pats for Patriots, printable cards, e-cards, and virtual backgrounds for all occasions;

About Workplace Appreciation
As identified in The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace by Gary Chapman and Paul White, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, and tangible gifts are all ways in which we can offer authentic and individualized appreciation for a colleague. Supervisors and team members are encouraged to identify each other's preferred appreciation languages and select the recognition method that will best be received. Workplace Appreciation Training is available to support these efforts.
In addition to the Recognition and Appreciation Toolkit, Mason faculty and staff are encouraged to recognize colleagues via the Employee of the Month program, Impact Awards, and the Gift Card and Mason Flair programs.
