Commonwealth Awards

Governor’s Award for Public Service

The Governor’s Awards program publicly recognizes outstanding employees for their hard work and dedication to the Commonwealth. Agencies nominate employees to be honored at a ceremony hosted by the Governor. Any state employee is eligible for nomination.

Human Resources selects nominees from the previous year’s Outstanding Achievement Award winners to submit to the state-wide Governor's Awards committee which makes the final selection. The presentation is generally held during Virginia Public Service Week held each spring.

Other faculty and staff are welcome to submit their nominations for the Governor’s Awards for Public Service. HR will publish the call for nominations in the University’s “About Mason” newsletter when the Commonwealth has requested nominations.

Please see the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management website for more information.
